An attempted Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount
StatusHappened
Daniel foresaw a time when "he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" (), and many futurist interpreters take this to mean that sacrifice will first be restored in Jerusalem. For them, attempts to offer a Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount show that the desire to restore Temple worship is real and active.
Happened (as an attempt). Al Jazeera reported on 31 March 2026 that "Israelis filmed themselves attempting to bring goats into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for a Passover sacrifice", and that "Police reportedly arrested the men before they reached the compound." Reports say such attempts recur almost every year. No sacrifice was offered.

The attempt was stopped, and attempts of this kind recur almost every year without result. It was an act by individuals who want to restore sacrifice, so it cannot count as independent fulfilment. Most scholars read Daniel's abolished sacrifice as Antiochus' desecration of the Temple in 167 BCE (1 Maccabees 1:54), a reading the scholar Wacholder calls "almost universally accepted", so a future restored sacrifice is one interpretation of the text, not its plain requirement.
