Jewish prayer permitted on the Temple Mount
StatusHappened
Jesus said that "Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" (). Futurist interpreters have long noted that, even after 1967, the Temple Mount stayed under the Islamic Waqf's administration with Jewish prayer barred. A change allowing Jewish prayer there is, for them, a development worth watching closely, both for Jerusalem's place in prophecy and for the question of a future Temple.
Happened. The Jerusalem Post reported on 13 February 2026 that police "have begun allowing Jewish prayer on the site under certain conditions", which the paper called "the most significant shift to the status quo since 1967". Police approved prayer sheets "limited to specific areas defined by the police". Yisrael Medad said: "Now people can prostrate themselves and the police let them pray, sometimes for up to five minutes." But "Israeli officials deny that there has been a major change to the status quo." Haaretz (5 January 2026) reported Netanyahu backing the change while denying a breach of the status quo. Later reports say prayer books were first allowed in August 2026.

This is a political and administrative change made by the Israeli authorities, so it is brought about by people, not an independent sign. Officials themselves say the status quo is unchanged, and no formal transfer of the site's administration has been found. Preterist interpreters read as describing what began in 70 CE, not a modern turning point.
